The conventional Salt Spray Apparatus having a plastic chamber fitted with spray nozzle using salt water and pressurized ambient air fails to meet even the principal specifications of ISO 9227 on Chamber temperature and Precipitation Rate control, which are necessary for valid evaluation of test samples. Most of these equipment control the temperature of the salt solution (not chamber atmosphere) using electric immersion heaters. A few use glass encased air heaters inside the chamber or immersion heaters in the chamber walls to heat the chamber. While the former have little control over chamber temperature, the latter have large temperature gradients spanning upto 10°C. This coupled with no or improper precipitation rate control leads to unpredictable results and very poor test consistency. For example, two identical samples drawn from the same will give different exposure values in summer and winter, or even day and night!

Mahip Salt Spray Apparatus employs innovative process control technologies to accurately control chamber temperature within 1°C (without use on any immersion/ air heaters inside the chamber, as required by the Standard) at all points in the chamber. The precipitation rate is also controlled at all points in the chamber. The end result is CONSISTENCY. Your test results become unquestionable. But before that, your processes improve to a level that your products and anti-corrosion processes rise above suspicion.

Mahip Salt Spray Apparatus is now equipped with the State-of-the-art Programmable Logic Controller and a (Windows/Linux based) Real time OS based 7” Touchcreen type Human Machine Interface. Plainly said, the machine has now a much reduced dependence on a trained operator. Besides, the inbuilt Datalogger keeps a record of the chamber temperature every two minutes. A record of about last 1000 hours can be accessed to assess the authenticity of the testing procedure.
